P Shot or ED Medication? How to Choose the Right Treatment
As we get older, it's common to notice changes in sexual health. Erections may not be as firm or as easy to achieve as they once were. As part of his focus on healthy aging and longevity, Dr. Mark Godley helps men explore treatments that support both sexual health and quality of life.
The P Shot and prescription ED medication can both improve erectile function, but they work in very different ways.
The Canadian Story Behind Cosmetic Botox
In 1987, Dr. Jean Carruthers, a Vancouver-based ophthalmologist, was using botulinum toxin to treat muscle spasms around the eyes when one of her patients noticed something strange. She told the doctor, "When you inject my forehead, my wrinkles go away."¹
Filler Blindness Is Real
One of the most fascinating concepts I've come across working in aesthetics is something called filler blindness. Filler blindness is the idea that when changes happen gradually, they become harder for us to see. I see this all the time outside of aesthetics. We don't notice our kids getting taller because we see them every day. The changes are happening, but they're so gradual that our brains adapt to them.
The same thing can happen with filler.
Can IV Therapy help with jet lag and travel fatigue?
Travel has become a big part of life at Godley Clinic. Mostly for training and conferences, but occasionally to step away from the clinic to reset and recharge.
Over the last few years, Dr. Mark Godley and our team have travelled to Osaka, Paris and the South of France, usually returning home inspired… and completely exhausted. As much as we enjoy traveling, there comes a point where your body starts reminding you how many time zones you've crossed. That's why pre and post travel IV treatments have become part of our routine.
The Jawline: Dr. Godley on What He Uses, What He Avoids, and Why
The jawline is a major focus in aesthetic medicine right now. Dr. Mark Godley shares what he uses in practice, what he avoids, and why.
4 Ways to make your lip filler last longer
Did you know there are actually ways to help your lip filler last longer?
I’m Heidi, and I’m a patient educator at Godley Clinic, an aesthetic practice in Vancouver run by Dr. Mark Godley.
One of the biggest things I’ve learned working in aesthetics is that maintaining your results is not just about the treatment itself. The little things you do at home can help support your lips between appointments too.
Why I Developed the 5-Point Facial Rejuvenation
Dr. Godley: When I opened the False Creek Surgical Centre in Vancouver in the 90s, facelift surgery was one of our most common procedures. At the time, if someone wanted to address sagging skin, surgery was really the only reliable option.
Radiesse Is Now Approved for the Chest (Décolleté)
Radiesse has been approved for the treatment of wrinkles in the chest (décolleté).
While the chest has long been treated in aesthetic medicine, this approval specifically targets wrinkles using a biostimulating filler.
Nose Thread Lift vs Surgical Rhinoplasty
The nose is one of the features people are hesitant to change. It sits at the centre of the face, and even small adjustments can change how the whole face looks. Because of that, many patients think carefully before committing to surgery.
I Tried Sculptra for the First Time. Here’s What Happened
Ever since I can remember, I’ve been insecure about the darkness under my eyes. I tried everything: eye masks, brightening creams, layers of concealer. But no matter what I did, I was still left with dark, hollow under-eyes.
Lip Filler, What Were You Like in the 90s
It’s the 90s. Lips are glossy, lip liner is a shade darker than the lipstick, and full lips are just as popular then as they are today.
I Tried a Thread Lift Instead of Botox - Here’s What Happened
This blog is inspired by a patient’s experience, with details adjusted for editorial and privacy purposes.
I remember turning 43. That was the age for me when I thought, I need to find a Botox doctor. It was time. And for the next five years, Botox was simply part of my routine.
Your MRP in Aesthetic Medicine - Dr. Godley
In Canadian healthcare, the term MRP stands for Most Responsible Physician. It describes the doctor who oversees your care and remains familiar with your medical history as it evolves.
In aesthetic medicine, we believe the concept still applies.
Filler Fatigue and Biostimulators: When the Strategy Needs to Evolve
“I keep adding filler and I still look tired.”
By this point, the usual concerns have already been treated. Hollowing has been improved. Lines have been softened. Volume has been restored.
And yet, the overall impression still feels tired. When that happens, the issue is often not the filler itself, but the overall strategy.
“This is the moment filler fatigue becomes apparent,” says Dr. Mark Godley. “The answer isn’t always more filler. It’s a better plan.”
Everything You Need to Know About the P Shot: Procedure, Recovery, and Results
Erections don’t always stay the same. Changes in firmness, reliability, and recovery can occur with stress, aging, circulation, or hormonal shifts, even when desire remains. For men who prefer not to rely on medication, regenerative treatments provide an alternative path.
The P Shot uses platelet rich plasma from your blood to support tissue health and circulation. At Godley Clinic, it is offered as a medical option for erectile dysfunction. Here’s what you need to know.
Can You Lift This Without Surgery? Dr. Godley on Thread Lift
In many consultations, I see the same gesture. People place one hand on each side of their face and gently lift their cheeks upward. Can you do this? they ask. Or do I need surgery?
The same motion shows up when we talk about the eyes and the nose. Fingers lifting the skin, testing what changes when tissue is supported rather than filled. The question is always the same: Can this be addressed without surgery?
How Long Does Lip Filler Last and What Makes It Fade Faster
“My friend and I both got lip filler at the same time. Same clinic. Same week. Hers still look great. Mine feel like they’ve deflated. What happened?”
This comes up often. Lip filler can behave differently from person to person. Here are the most common reasons one result lasts longer than another.
When Botox Is No Longer the Whole Answer
For many people, Botox is how aesthetic medicine begins. It is familiar, predictable, and good at what it does. It softens expression lines caused by repeated muscle movement and, for a long time, it’s enough. Then something shifts.
Botox continues to reduce lines, but it does not address broader changes in skin quality, facial support, energy levels, or how the body itself is aging. This is usually the point when someone starts looking beyond a single treatment.
Why Botox Still Has a Role, Even With Regenerative Advances
Over the years, I have travelled all over the world to learn from leaders in aesthetic medicine. I trained with Dr. Marlen Sulamanidze at Aptos, the plastic surgeon who pioneered thread lifting. More recently, I spent time in Japan, training with Dr. Yuka. These experiences exposed me to different ways of thinking about aging and long term tissue health.
Today, my practice at Godley Clinic in Abbotsford and Vancouver is strongly influenced by what I have learned internationally. I focus on supporting facial structure, skin quality, and how the face changes with time. I am particularly interested in combination approaches, where treatments build on each other.
