Radiesse is a dermal filler that's made a little differently than most. It contains tiny calcium based microspheres suspended in a smooth gel.
When it's injected, the gel immediately restores lost volume, just like a traditional dermal filler. But the microspheres continue working after the treatment by stimulating fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen.
As your body responds, new collagen gradually forms around the treatment area, helping restore some of the skin's natural support. That's what makes Radiesse different from most fillers.
But Dr. Godley, what else is Radiesse good at?
Well, it lasts a long time.
While most hyaluronic acid fillers last around 6 to 12 months, Radiesse typically lasts 12 to 18 months. It's also an excellent choice for restoring structure and definition in areas like the cheeks, jawline, chin, and hands. It can even be diluted (hyperdilute Radiesse) to improve skin quality in areas like the neck and chest.
But Dr. Godley, if Radiesse is so great, why doesn't everyone choose it?
It's a fair question. The answer is that Radiesse isn't designed to replace every dermal filler.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are softer and more flexible, making them the better choice for areas where subtle movement and precise shaping are important, like the the lips. They also have the advantage of being reversible if adjustments are needed.
Radiesse, on the other hand, is often the better choice when the goal is to restore structure while stimulating collagen. That's why it's commonly used in areas like the cheeks, jawline, chin, and hands, where support and definition are just as important as restoring volume.
There isn't one filler that's right for every person. The goal isn't to use one product for everything, but to choose the right filler for the right area.

Is Radiesse treatment painful?
Dr. Godley uses lidocaine to help make the treatment more comfortable. If you're particularly sensitive to pain, he may also recommend taking an oral pain medication before your appointment. If so, you'll be asked to arrive a little early.
Is there any downtime?
Most people return to their normal activities the same day. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising can occur and usually settles within a few days.
When will I see results?
You'll notice an immediate improvement in volume after treatment. Dr. Godley often combines Radiesse with a hyaluronic acid dermal filler as part of his injection technique. He prefers this approach because it provides immediate results, helps create a smoother result with a lower chance of lumps, and allows the filler to be dissolved if an adjustment is needed. What are the possible side effects?
Mild swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising are the most common side effects and usually resolve within a few days.
Can Radiesse be combined with other treatments?
