Can IV Therapy help with jet lag and travel fatigue?
Godley Clinic’s Top Travel Destinations (and the IVs We Reach For After Long Flights)
Travel has become a big part of life at Godley Clinic. Mostly for training and conferences, but occasionally to step away from the clinic to reset and recharge.
Over the last few years, Dr. Mark Godley and our team have travelled to Osaka, Paris and the South of France, usually returning home inspired… and completely exhausted. As much as we enjoy traveling, there comes a point where your body starts reminding you how many time zones you've crossed. That's why pre and post travel IV treatments have become part of our routine.
Can IV Therapy Help With Jet Lag and Travel Fatigue?
IV therapy delivers fluids, electrolytes, vitamins, amino acids, and antioxidants directly into the bloodstream rather than through the digestive system, allowing the body to access them more quickly. While it’s not a cure for jet lag, it’s often used to help support hydration and recovery after travel.
Osaka, Japan: Training and very little sleep
We traveled to Osaka for advanced thread lift training with Dr. Yuka at The Natural Beauty Clinic. The days were packed! Exploring Dotonbori, indulging in fluffy pancakes and omakase sushi, and experiencing Osaka's unique culture made the trip unforgettable. But the true highlight was the hands-on thread lift training with Dr. Yuka.
At first, the energy of Osaka almost masked the exhaustion. But by the second and third day, the combination of jet lag, lack of sleep, rich meals, and nonstop stimulation started catching up with everyone. After returning home, Dr. Godley prepared post-travel IV treatments focused on hydration and recovery. It gave us the reset we needed to return to the clinic feeling recharged, while bringing back new ideas, techniques, and inspiration from our training in Japan.
Recommended IV treatment: Myers' Cocktail IV Therapy including Vitamin C, B-complex vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12), magnesium, and calcium to support hydration, energy, and overall wellness.
Recommended add-on: Vitamin D injection to support overall health and normal immune system function during travel.
Belgium: Deep dive into longevity medicine and mental clarity
Dr. Godley and our team traveled to Belgium to learn alongside one of the world's leading physicians in longevity and hormone health, Thierry Hertoghe. One thing that stood out was how differently hormone health is approached in Europe. In Canada, conversations about hormones often don't happen until symptoms become difficult to ignore. Hertoghe emphasizes a more proactive approach, addressing changes before they become major issues.
The experience reinforced Dr. Godley's belief that feeling your best and looking your best are often connected, with hormone health, lifestyle, nutrition, and overall wellbeing all playing a role.
Between travel and full days of learning, it was an information overload kind of trip. After returning home, Dr. Godley prepared post-travel IV treatments to help support focus and mental clarity. For trips like this, NAD+ IV therapy is often used to help support recovery from stress and fatigue.
Recommended IV treatments: NAD+ IV therapy to support NAD+ levels depleted by stress and fatigue.
Las Vegas: Education and Adventure
Dr. Godley and the team travelled to Las Vegas to attend the Vegas Cosmetic Surgery (VCS) Conference, one of the leading educational events in aesthetic medicine. One of the highlights was visiting our friends at Merz Aesthetics. As a practice, we're big fans of many of their products, including Radiesse®, Belotero®, and Xeomin®, so it's always great to connect with the team behind treatments we use every day.
For Dr. Godley, continuing education is never optional. Staying current with the latest developments allows us to continue bringing safe, evidence based treatments and techniques back to our patients.
True to form, Dr. Godley couldn't resist a little adventure, renting a Harley to explore the stunning Red Rock Canyon. We also checked out the Sphere, caught No Doubt live, and wrapped up the trip with a Zedd at Omnia pool party.
Before heading to Las Vegas, Dr. Godley prepared our Skin Bright IV treatments to help support energy, hydration, and skin health. Conference travel can be exciting, but it can also leave your skin looking tired and dehydrated after long flights, hotel air, desert heat, and very little downtime.
Recommended IV treatments: Skin Bright IV Therapy including Vitamin C, glutathione, antioxidants, minerals, and hydration solutions to support skin brightness, hydration, and overall wellness during travel.
The South of France: Time to slow down
After several years where nearly every trip revolved around training or conferences, Dr. Godley recently took a rare trip where the goal was simply to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Between an incredible weekend seeing RÜFÜS DU SOL live, amazing food, exploring one of his favourite cities in the world, and even getting his very first tattoo, the trip was a reminder that life isn't all work, conferences, and training.
Before leaving, Dr. Godley prepared a pre-travel IV treatment focused on supporting the immune system and helping reduce the chances of getting sick while traveling. It helped him head into the trip feeling more energized and ready to fully enjoy the experience.
Recommended IV treatments: Custom IV therapy including antioxidants, glutathione, amino acids and hydration solutions. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect cells from oxidative stress and supports normal immune and liver function, making it a popular addition to travel IV treatments.
