From Vancouver to Osaka: Techniques We’re Excited to Share

Osaka Travel Recap: Behind the Scenes with the Godley Clinic Team

Japan has always been one of my favourite places to visit. There’s something about the way precision and beauty come together in daily life that speaks to me. So when the opportunity came up for our team to return to Osaka for advanced training, I couldn’t wait!

At Godley Clinic, travel is part of how we learn. We don’t just attend conferences — we step into clinics around the world, observing, asking questions, and working side by side with experts who are refining the future of aesthetics. It’s how we grow as a team, and it’s how we bring fresh, thoughtful care back home to our patients.

We packed a lot into a few short days — training, connection, food, and the kind of learning that only happens when you’re fully immersed. Here’s a look back at how the week unfolded.

Saturday – Arrival in Osaka

We landed in the evening and headed straight into the heart of Osaka, into Dotonbori.

Whatever tiredness we felt after the long flight disappeared as we moved through the streets. It wasn’t just busy, it was layered. Music spilled from storefronts, food vendors called out over the crowd, and lights reflected off the canal. Somehow, instead of feeling overwhelmed, I felt grounded. I didn’t have to think — just take it all in.

Sunday – A Day to Explore

Dr. Godley (the early riser) was up for a run to explore the local parks and the peaceful, empty streets — something rare in Osaka.

The rest of us had a slower start, beginning the day with fluffy Japanese pancakes and coffee. From there, we made our way through Shinsaibashi, checking out shops, trying snacks, and just walking without a plan.

That evening we went for omakase, enjoying textures and flavours we don’t often see at home in Vancouver. It was a good way to wrap up the day before training started.

Monday – Thread Lift Training Day 1

Our first day of training took place at The Natural Beauty Clinic with Dr. Yuka and her team. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. The Japanese and Canadian flags were displayed at the entrance, a small gesture that set the tone for the day.

Dr. Godley observed a range of thread lift techniques and combination treatments, including a case that used threads and hyaluronic acid to restore volume and contour in the forehead. It’s a technique we’re now offering to patients in Vancouver and Abbotsford.

That evening we attended a traditional sumo performance and ended the day with a Wagyu teppanyaki dinner alongside Dr. Yuka’s team — a memorable end to a packed day.

Tuesday – Thread Lift Training Day 2

On our final day of training, Sharen and I volunteered as thread lift models. Sharen’s treatment focused on soft volume and rejuvenation. Mine was tailored for lift.

It gave us a better understanding of the experience from the patient’s perspective — not just the results, but the trust and precision behind each step. We were both excited with the treatments we received and grateful to experience the techniques firsthand.

Watching Dr. Godley work side by side with Dr. Yuka, fine-tuning his approach, was a reminder of how much skill lives in the details.

What We’re Bringing Home

We returned with new techniques — advanced thread lift strategies, forehead reshaping, and a more nuanced approach to combination treatments. But more than that, we came back energized and aligned.

“The experience working with Dr. Yuka and her team was far greater than expected.
The hands-on experience, attention to anatomy and safety was superior!
My staff are excited with the treatments they received.” — Dr. Godley

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Yuka and her team for welcoming us so generously and sharing their expertise with such care!
