Erections don’t always stay the same. Changes in firmness, reliability, and recovery can occur with stress, aging, circulation, or hormonal shifts, even when desire remains. For men who prefer not to rely on medication, regenerative treatments provide an alternative path.

The P Shot uses platelet rich plasma from your blood to support tissue health and circulation. At Godley Clinic, it is offered as a medical option for erectile dysfunction. Here’s what you need to know.

What Is the P Shot

The P Shot uses platelet rich plasma, or PRP, taken from a small sample of your blood. Platelets contain growth factors that support tissue repair, circulation, and cellular signalling.

PRP is not exclusive to erectile dysfunction treatment. It has been used for many years in medical settings focused on healing and recovery, including orthopedics, sports medicine, and dermatology. It is also used following certain surgical procedures to support the body’s natural healing response.

Some men hesitate, whether it’s about the procedure or the cost,” says Dr. Mark Godley. “What they usually come to understand is that this isn’t really about the treatment itself. It’s about their relationship and how changes in sexual function affect their partner as well.”

The P Shot Procedure: Step by Step

A P Shot appointment takes about 1.5 hours from start to finish.

It begins with a blood draw. The sample is placed in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelet rich plasma. While the plasma is processing, a local anesthetic is administered to ensure comfort. This portion takes about 20 minutes, and most patients spend that time relaxing, using their phone, or simply waiting comfortably.

Once the platelet rich plasma is prepared, it is injected into targeted areas along the shaft and glans using precise medical technique. Immediately afterward, a medical grade pump is applied briefly. The pump creates gentle, controlled suction to increase blood flow and help distribute the platelet rich plasma.

The pump is then provided as part of post treatment care. When recommended, it is used at home for about 20 minutes per day for a set period, often around one month.

“It’s completely normal to feel nervous during the treatment. We numb the area thoroughly and take our time. My goal is to make the experience as comfortable and straightforward as possible.” - Dr. Godley

Recovery and Downtime

Downtime is minimal for most men. Mild swelling, redness, or sensitivity at injection sites can occur and usually resolves within a few days. Bruising is possible but not common. Normal daily activities can typically be resumed the same day or the following day, depending on comfort level.

In many cases, sexual activity can resume within 24 to 48 hours, provided there is no significant discomfort or swelling.

What to Expect Over Time

Changes with the P Shot develop gradually. Some men notice subtle improvements within a few weeks, while others observe changes over a longer period. Response varies based on circulation, hormone health, overall wellness, and any underlying medical factors.

“Unlike medication, which works temporarily and predictably, this is a regenerative process designed to support longer term tissue health.” - Dr. Godley

Does the P Shot hurt?
Local anesthetic is used before treatment to improve comfort. Most men describe the procedure as tolerable. Mild soreness, swelling, or sensitivity can occur afterward and usually resolves within a few days.

How long do results last?
Duration varies from person to person. Many men experience benefits for about one year or longer.

Is this a replacement for medication?
Not necessarily. Some men pursue it as an alternative to medication, while others use it alongside other treatments.

Who is a candidate?
Men experiencing changes in erectile function who are seeking a non medication based approach may be candidates. A medical consultation is required to determine suitability.
